Common module that provides a core level of knowledge and skills relating to sustainable communities.
The module can be used as a stand-alone course or included in existing courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development level. We developed the module in conjunction with the Open University and the Bayswater Institute.
The module is based on five workshops or 'events' and is flexible so teachers and trainers can tailor the content for specific audiences.

What does the module cover?
The workshops either focus on real communities in which students have direct involvement or case study-based scenarios (where students adopt roles of people involved in creating better places).
Students:
No prior subject knowledge is required.
A toolkit for teachers and trainers is available and includes a student workbook, tutor guide and resource website.
Who is it aimed at?
The module is designed for learners at a range of levels, from introductory higher education courses to professional development. It can also be used with community-based groups in which professionals and community members work alongside one another. This module is being developed further into a CPD Module, in partnership with ExChange, University of Salford who are piloting the module with Salix Homes.
