Resources to deliver a sustainable communities workshop.
A flexible electronic toolkit comprising materials to help provide a basic understanding of the sustainable communities agenda to your chosen audience. This was developed as a pilot in 2008 and will be available in early 2009 on our online E-learning portal.
It will be targeted at anyone familiar with the role of trainer, and with experience of organising and facilitating small workshops. You'll also need a reasonable level of background knowledge about the sustainable communities agenda.
While the toolkit is designed for an audience requiring a basic understanding of sustainable communities, it can be tailored to meet the needs of a variety of audiences with different levels of know-how and experience.

How does it work?
Initially available on a USB memory stick, the pack contained:
- A 150-page introductory guide that describes different aspects of the sustainable communities agenda.
- A workshop presentation in the form of a set of slides (in Microsoft PowerPoint) sufficient to support a half-day workshop. It covers all of the main aspects of sustainable communities. Supporting information is included in the manual (see below) and there is also a spare PowerPoint template for you to create your own slides in the same format.
- A manual that provides advice on how to use the guide and slideshow to engage different audiences. It includes accompanying notes and all the resources needed to run a workshop.
- A gallery of images. You can download these and use them for the purposes of illustration or discussion.
- Storeroom - the memory stick has sufficient capacity for you to add your own text and pictures. For example, you might want to add: information about your own organisation, local examples and case studies, local images and your own administration documents such as attendance sheets and feedback forms.
You'll be able to construct a variety of learning activities, lasting from just a few minutes up to a comprehensive full-day workshop, while tailoring the contents and structure to suit your audience.
