Our work priorities 2007-08
Young people
There are simply too few young people entering professions related to sustainable communities. That's why we work through schools, universities and the young people themselves to raise awareness and nurture interest.
We will:
- Deliver models of best practice clearly showing how schools can involve young people in the sustainable communities agenda
- Work with the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) to explore potential for future collaboration
- Adapt our successful Making Places education resource pack for primary age school children
- Develop new teaching and learning resources to complement lessons in geography, citizenship, enterprise and sustainable schools at key stage 3 (11-14) and GCSE (14-16)
In all, these activities will help us reach around 50,000 school children during the year.
We'll also be setting out our stall at careers fairs around the country, as well as mounting a national campaign to encourage more young people to apply for careers in the sector.
The campaign will include:
- A new careers brand
- A website
- An online work placement exchange
